Welcome to my website. I’m a Dutch historian and writer.
Since 2007, I have been a self-employed historian, creating books, exhibitions, articles and research on request. I have many specialisations: I graduated in 2006 in Economic and Social History at Utrecht University, and I work on subjects like local and regional history, beer, fortifications, the Revolutionary era in the Netherlands, but also immigrants, railways and much more. I like to look at things in a critical but positive way, and I don’t believe anything on face value!
-> Read my blog Lost Beers, on the history of beer
Also, I like to do what I call ‘creative communication’: in the field of history and heritage, but also much more. Websites, press releases, social media, graphic design, illustrations and anything else that I can do and that I like. From communication for museums to a comic strip for Bier!Magazine (‘Tom Pintens, beer detective’).
This website will tell you about what I do. If you want to know more, don’t hesitate to contact me!
