Monopoly for Windows FAQ

As I am only an amateur programmer, I don't have the possibility of putting an entire help desk at you disposal to immediately answer all your questions. Therefore I have made this Frequently Asked Questions page.
(For those in America or other countries where people start suing eachother very easily: these instructions are to be followed at your own risk. I assume no responsability.)

When I start up Monopoly, a "Run time error 339" message is displayed, telling me that a file is missing (usually MSCOMCTL.OCX of COMDLG32.OCX).
A system file is lacking on your computer. You can solve this by downloading the file that is concerned. You may try these sites:
http://www.snapfiles.com/help/missingfiles.html
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/comdlg32.htm
http://www.ascentive.com/support/new/support_dll.phtml?dllname=COMDLG32.OCX
http://www.rocketdownload.com/supfiles.htm
Otherwise, just try to find it in a search engine.

The program starts up normally, but when I start playing an error message is displayed and the program is ended.
Maybe there something goes wrong when playing sound files. In the Options to be found in the 'Preferences' menu, uncheck 'Sound'. Of course it's a pity that you'll have to play without sound, but at least the program will work.

I have no trouble playing the game, but the coloured rectangles indicating property are in the wrong place.
The display settings of your computer are wrong; the font has been set too big and therefore in Monopoly the coloured shapes are not in the right place (for reasons that are probably only known by Bill Gates himself). How to solve this?
In the 'Explorer' or 'My computer' program (to be found on your desktop screen), go to the Control panel. There, click 'Display'; the 'Display properties' screen will appear. Choose the 'Settings' tab, and there click the 'Advanced' button. In the 'General' tab there is a combo box 'Font size'. Set it to 'Small fonts' (instead of 'Large fonts'). Then click OK until all screens are closed.
NB. Changing these settings will also slightly change the way all programs are displayed! You can however allways restore the settings by repeating the process mentioned above.

During the game an error message suddenly appears, or some other strange thing happens.
That's always a tough question to answer. If something like this should happen, browse to the folder where the Monopoly program is located (usually C:\Program Files\Parkeerbonnen Monopoly), where you'll find a file called "reserve.mp". Mail this file to me, indicating what happened. I'll try to find a solution.

During the game, the program suddenly does not respond anymore.
This sometimes happens when a computer player has to pay a rent and can't afford it. The remedy is: simply wait for 5 minutes! (Tip: go for a coffee)

I'm addicted to Monopoly.
Switch of your computer and go for a walk.
